Blackwood Timber Veneer – Blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon) is a medium sized Australian hardwood growing to around 40m. The Blackwood tree is found in south-eastern parts of Australia. As far as Tasmanian special timbers go, it is one of the best known and most widely used. It is produced in moderate commercial volumes and grows across a broad range of forest types.
Blackwood timber comes in a many varied colour range. From a very pale honey colour to a rich golden brown through to a dark chocolate. Sometimes it is also streaked with a red tinge. The most valuable is Blackwood that has intense fiddleback figure. The grain of Blackwood timber veneer can be straight or wavy and is easy to work with. Anything you create using this veneer will be stunning.
