Messmate Timber Veneer

Messmate Timber Veneer – Messmate (Eucalyptus obliqua) is a hardwood native to Tasmania, Victoria and the tablelands of New South Wales and Southern Queensland.  It has been known to grow to 90m tall with the trunk up to 3m in diameter.

The Messmate timber veneer sapwood colour can be pale yellow to pale brown, while the heartwood can be light brown in colour.  It has an even, moderately coarse texture.  The sometimes interlocking, straight grains feature beautifully defined rings. Gum veins are also quite common and it can also have quite strong figure.
