Timber Veneers - Backing

Timber Veneers – Backing – Backing or Balance veneer are a lower grade, less expensive veneer.  They are used on the underside of the panel (substrate). Maintaining stability when veneering the substrate, backing veneer is critical to achieving and maintaining a perfectly flat panel. Will the back panel be seen?  If so, most craftsmen would choose to use a veneer of similar colour, grain, and species. If the back side of the panel will not be seen, then a balance grade veneer is the way to affordably complete the panel.
