Cherry Timber Veneer

Cherry Timber Veneer – Cherry (Prunus serotina) is native to eastern USA.  It grows to a height of 30m and a diameter of around 0.6m.  Cherry has been prized by cabinetmakers for centuries, particularly the Shaker craftsmen of the 19th century.

Its heartwood ranges from a dark, rich red to a reddish-brown colour.  In contrast the sapwood is creamy white.  The wood has a fine uniform straight grain, a smooth satiny texture and can contain brown pith flecks and small gum pockets.  It is also most known for the beautiful cathedral grain found on ‘flat cut’ veneer.  Finish Cherry timber veneer with a clear coat to preserve the warmth and colour.

Also known as American Black Cherry, Black Cherry and Cabinet Cherry
