Rimu Timber Veneer

Rimu Timber Veneer – Rimu (Dacrydium cupressinum) is one of New Zealand’s most popular native timbers. It can grow up to 50 m tall with a trunk diameter of up to 2m.  They are among the tallest native trees in New Zealand.  After extensive logging, Rimu is now a protected species.

The heartwood timber varies in colour from a dark reddish to yellowish brown, with irregular streaks. The sapwood is a uniform pale brown colour.  It is straight grained with a fine even texture.

Rimu timber veneer is prized in the furniture making industry for its exceptionally beautiful wood grain.
